The Maritime Museum of BC, located at 744 Douglas Street in Victoria, has announced a special exhibit titled “Pacific in Peril” and is now open to the public and runs through March 30, 2025.

Our oceans support life on our planet. People and goods are transported via our oceans, many people make their living on the water, and our oceans are a source of food. The warming of our oceans leads to acidification causing coastal erosion, rising sea levels, and expanded areas of deoxygenation. Our oceans guide the entire eco system and influence our weather patterns.

Did you know that our oceans can also be our greatest ally in the fight against climate change as they play a key role in carbon sequestration. Efforts have already started to boost the power of the Pacific. You can learn more at this special “Pacific in Peril” exhibit. Come explore what climate change could mean for the Pacific and what we can do to help protect it now, and in the future – “how we can turn the tide.”
