When you pull into Crescent Beach Marina, you expect the usual marina suspects: fuel dock, washrooms, maybe a dusty store stocked with engine oil, crab traps, and a lonely freezer of bait. A place to grab a last-minute filter or some fishing tackle before heading out. Functional, yes. Pretty? Not exactly.

Not the case here. The store at Crescent Beach Marina has been completely reimagined, and I have to say, it’s a triumph. The new owner has transformed what was once a purely utilitarian space into a bright, stylish boutique, showcasing a flair for finding unique treasures. Don’t get me wrong, they still stock all the boat gear and fishing supplies you expect to see at a marina store, but now you’ll also discover shelves filled with thoughtful, beautiful items that make you want to linger. Think less “machine supply shop” and more “nautical lifestyle store meets gourmet market.” It’s the kind of place where you walk in for a bag of ice and walk out with a hostess gift you didn’t even know you needed.

A Curated Collection of Local Gems. What makes the new Provisions store so impressive is the thoughtful curation. This isn’t just another gift shop stocked with generic trinkets. The shelves are filled with products from small local companies—artisans whose work feels both local and special.

Bar Buoys skewers for cocktails available to purchase at the store

Take SaltSpring Kitchen Co., for example. Their jams, preserves, and hot sauces are as beautiful as they are delicious. Picture a gift basket: a jar of peach and sage jam, a set of patterned napkins, and a hand-carved wooden spoon. Suddenly, you’re not just grabbing groceries, you’re walking out with the perfect hostess gift for a dockside dinner. It’s the kind of thing that makes people ask, “Where did you find that?”

Boating Gifts with Style. The Provisions store has also nailed the tricky category of “boating gifts.” We boaters love to exchange little tokens when we raft up or invite friends aboard, but let’s be honest, space is tight. The store’s offerings are clever, practical, and just the right size.

Think clever cocktail skewers paired with gourmet olives—a stylish nod to happy hour without cluttering your galley. Add a bottle of chilled vodka and you’re ready for “docktails” in no time. These are the kinds of finds that make holiday shopping easy for boaters: thoughtful, useful, and elegant without being fussy.

Beach Glass Soaps at Crescent Beach Marina store

One of my favourite discoveries in the store is Aqua Sea Glass Soap, made in White Rock, BC. These little individual hand soaps are shaped like smooth sea glass pebbles—eco-friendly, beautifully scented, and perfect for onboard living. Instead of a soggy communal bar of soap in the head, you offer guests a single, jewel-like piece. They dissolve as you wash, leaving your hands soft and your bathroom looking chic. It’s the kind of detail that elevates the everyday—functional, yes, but also quietly luxurious.

Another standout is Flash Fuel Organic Instant Coffee. Now, I can hear you groaning: “Instant coffee? Really?” But trust me, this is not your average powdery disappointment. Flash Fuel combines premium organic instant coffee with micro-ground beans, creating a smooth, full-bodied cup in seconds. No weak brews, no weird aftertaste, just great coffee, fast.

Photo of Flash Fuel Coffee packets and cupsFor boaters, it’s genius. Pack it in your galley drawer for a quick fix, mix it into a thermos at dawn, and you’re ready for those early-morning fishing runs. No fiddling with French presses or percolators in rough seas, just hot water and done.

And then there’s the Flaked Foods Chocolate Coconut Sea Salt Granola. Honestly, this one might be dangerous. It’s refined sugar-free, seed oil-free, packed with superfood seeds and grains—but let’s cut through the health talk. It’s chocolatey, crunchy, and addictive. This is the kind of snack you eat straight from the bag, maybe with a glass of red wine as the sun sets over the marina. Granola that doubles as dessert? Yes, please.

Gifts That Mean Something. Here’s what I love most about the new Provisions store: it understands that boaters don’t need more “stuff.” We don’t have space in our boats, or frankly, in our lives, for clutter. What we crave are meaningful little luxuries: food and beverages we can share, beautifully made items we’d never buy for ourselves, and thoughtful touches that make time on the water feel special.

A jar of jam, or a bag of indulgent granola—these are small but meaningful gifts. They don’t take up space, but they create moments. A hostess gift that sparks conversation, a snack that elevates a simple glass of wine, a soap that makes your guests smile.

And really, isn’t that the essence of boating? An afternoon on the water with good friends, something delicious to share, and no clutter in sight. As good as it gets.
