The Port of Seattle has started renovating the historic Ship Supply Building at Fishermen’s Terminal to become the Maritime Innovation Center. The Center will foster collaboration and innovation for all sectors of the maritime industry, including commercial fishing and the growing green maritime economy. The Center will bring together students, innovators from businesses, and public agencies along with community stakeholders to meet the needs of the maritime industry.
The Port of Seattle has partnered with Miller Hull, an internationally recognized architecture, planning, and interior design firm. Miller Hull has a studio in both Seattle and San Diego, meeting the needs of living, learning, working, and gathering for their private and public clients. The Ship Supply Building at Fishermen’s Terminal will be renovated and modernized into a 15,000 square-foot facility, featuring work, fabrication, classrooms, and event spaces. The building renovation and other site improvements will be taking place in 2024-2025.
Home to the North Pacific Fleet and Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial, locals and tourists alike are drawn to this special destination which offers restaurants (Bay Café, Chinooks, Highliner Pub), a mini-mart, and a seafood market. You can watch all the boating activity, walk the plaza, and purchase fresh fish from the market. Fishermen’s Terminal has been a cornerstone of the fishing industry since 1914.
Complimentary side-tie guest moorage is available in front of Chinook’s restaurant for 4 hours while dining and shopping. Guest moorage at the Port Docks is first-come, first-served; call ahead for slip assignment (206-787-3395). Payment is made at building No. C15. Increased moorage capacity is available when the fleet is away, July to late August.
Recreational boaters are encouraged and welcomed at Fishermen’s Terminal, the heart of the fishing community in Seattle.
