Did you know that Edmonds College now offers a program in maritime manufacturing at their Advanced Manufacturing Skills Center (AMSC) in Everett? The college has added a Maritime Manufacturing Program to their already popular courses, which include aerospace, automotive, construction, robotics, and other technologies.
New for 2024 is the 12-week fiberglass lamination Specialty Certificate, which combines online learning with hands-on lab sessions. Composite-based skills are in high demand in the maritime industry, and many of the skills learned can also be applied to other manufacturing fields. Students will learn the process of lamination, calculations, layup techniques, and the curing process.
This new maritime program starts with a self-paced 4-week online course in the fundamentals of the industry, with an overview of manufacturing, composites, tools, and assembly to earn a Core Certificate. This first course is then followed by the 8-week fiberglass lamination course to earn the Specialty Certificate.
If you are looking for interesting work or just starting your career, achieving skills in manufacturing will open opportunities for jobs that are in high demand and earn a living-wage. The next Maritime Core Certificate course starts on August 12, 2024, and the Fiberglass Lamination course is launching in September.
