Cruisers College at the Marine Technology Center in Anacortes, WA is an extension of Skagit Valley College, offering courses to both college students and the general boating public. Check out these upcoming classes in Anacortes at the Tec. Center, 1606 R Avenue. Space for these classes are limited and fill quickly.

9-Week Marine Surveying Course, Feb. 23 through April 24. If you are looking to launch a career in the marine industry as a professional surveyor, then this one-of-a-kind course is for you! Women’s Only Marine Electrical Basics, Feb. 28 from 1pm to 4pm. Whether you’re a single-handed captain, co-captain, or crew member, understanding electrical troubleshooting and wiring will pay dividends for years to come. During this one-day course you will learn to identify and test different types of fuses, learn marine wiring practices, circuit safety checks, tools, install wire terminations, and more.

Lifesling for Sailboats, March 1 from 9am to Noon. Class participants will learn how to rig and use a lifesling, an essential piece of equipment to rescue someone and bring them back on board. Class instruction and hands-on practice.

Marine Diesel Engines for Women, March 7-8 from 9am to 4pm. In this 2-day class you’ll learn about diesel engines and related systems and what is likely to cause problems. How to perform engine room checks, change impellers, and fuel filters are included in this course.

This class covers all the critical service points needed to keep your outboard motor running smoothly for both your dinghy and main outboard propulsion vessel. Hands-on topics cover fuel systems, ignition systems, installations, and more.

Cruising the Inside Passage to Alaska, March 14-15 from 9am to 4pm. This 2-day seminar covers all the information you need for planning and preparing for a trip to Southeast Alaska. Four instructors share their experience and valuable knowledge regarding weather, anchoring, destinations, and more.
