With mixed emotions, Lorena Landon and Leonard Landon announce that the 2026 edition of the Waggoner Cruising Guide will be their last. Although we gave a farewell message at the end of the previous season, we committed to producing one more edition of the Waggoner Guide to facilitate a transition to the next Managing Editors. Yes, after eleven years of volunteering our time to be part of Waggoner, we are moving on to that next chapter in life.
The driving force behind our dedication with Waggoner has been all the kind words of appreciation we received from the boating public. The best payment for our time has been all of those thoughtful messages from fellow boaters. We want to thank all of you in the boating community for sending us your suggestions, updates, and observations that have helped make the Waggoner an outstanding resource for boaters in the Pacific Northwest. A special thank you is extended to our field correspondents who dedicated their time to help us canvas the extensive cruising grounds for research and to gather updates, photos, and document new destinations. A warm thank you is extended to Mark Bunzel for having provided us with the opportunity to be a part of the Waggoner family and serve as editors.
We have enjoyed working with everyone connected with Waggoner, including advertisers, marinas, boating organizations, contractors, and office staff over the years. Don’t worry though, we are not disappearing entirely. We look forward to seeing you out on the water as we continue to remain active in the boating community, including writing articles and sending in updates for Waggoner.
