Washington State Parks and the Recreation Commission is co-hosting beach cleanup events, bringing people together who want to help protect and preserve our beautiful beaches.

Cleanup events will take place at multiple sites along the Pacific Coast and the Salish Sea. State Parks is inviting the public to celebrate Earth Day, on April 25, at eleven different state parks. If you would like to spend a day at the beach with other volunteer participants for cleanup, you can check in at one of the following locations:

  • Cape Disappointment – Bolstad W, Long Beach
  • Fort Flagler/Myster Bay – Chimacum Corner Farmstand, 9122 Rhody Dr., Chimacum
  • Fort Townsend/Fort Worden – Port Townsend Marine Science Center, 502 Harbor Defense Way
  • Grayland Beach/Twin Harbors – Bonge Ave., W Bonge Ave., Grayland
  • Griffiths-Priday/Ocean City/Pacific Beach – W Chance a la Mer NW, Ocean Shores and Ocean City, 37 Second Ave.

Come prepared for variable weather conditions and wear sturdy footwear. Bring a packed lunch and plenty of water. Participants will receive supplies for debris collection, though you’re encouraged to bring reusable gloves. Check-in stations will also serve as designated drop-off locations for collected marine debris.

To view a list of all participating beaches and pre-register for the event, visit CoastSavers.org. Note that a Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to state-managed lands on April 25.

To bolster beach cleanup efforts, State Parks collaborates with Washington CoastSavers, Grassroots Garbage Gang, Port Townsend Marine Science Center, and Surfrider Foundation.
