Port Townsend’s Northwest Maritime Center is offering an online course for “Rules of the Road & Aids to Navigation” on January 13 and 14. Each session of this online course is 1.5 hours in duration (6:30 pm to 8:00 pm). A Zoom link will be sent via email one week before class, along with supplemental materials and resources for reference.

Those new to boating will greatly benefit from this course and answer those questions regarding who has the right of way (stand on vessel) when underway. The course covers scenarios such as overtaking, crossing, and collision avoidance (“rules of the road”). You’ll learn about aids to navigation – range markers, navigation buoys, and positioning. How to identify the channel and more. You’ll gain the knowledge to navigate confidently, while upholding safety standards for yourself and others.

Class presentations are followed by interactive discussion and a Q&A session. To register for the class, click HERE. Fee for the course is $86 for members of Northwest Maritime Center, and $95 for non-members.
