Reserving guest transient moorage space at your favorite marina is about to get better, thanks to the help of a company called Molo. Molo’s marina management software makes it easier for the marina to offer online moorage space reservations. A number of marinas in our area have added Molo support to their websites. With this system, guests can quickly and easily make a reservation and in some cases pick their desired slip or side-tie location.
The Molo Online Booking System is a tool that helps marinas manage their business, including invoicing as well as booking online reservations. Molo can store an unlimited number of rates and terms for each type of reservation such as seasonal rates, slip length, and even dry storage. Molo can also handle boat rentals.
Molo is a huge convenience for boaters too. Marinas can choose Molo settings that allow the boater to select their desired moorage space based on availability as shown on the marina’s map. When requesting guest moorage online, the boater keys in all the needed information for the reservation including arrival and departure dates, length overall, beam, draft, and optional power needs. The boater can then select the desired slip by number/letter shown on the marina’s dock diagram for marinas that provide this information. Confirmation of marina bookings are sent via email directly from the marina to the customer.
The Molo Reservation System is a recent trend in the Pacific Northwest, including British Columbia (check out Salt Spring Marina), and Southeast Alaska. Point Hudson Marina at Port Townsend, Port of Bremerton, and Swantown Marina in Olympia are among the first in Puget Sound to offer the moorage reservation feature of Molo to transient boaters.
Many marinas post signage at slips that have been reserved to avoid any potential conflict. At Swantown Marina for example, signage is placed at each reserved/assigned slip. Likewise, signage is placed at the Port Plaza Dock, managed by Swantown, for those who have reserved overnight side-tie space at this location. The Port Plaza Dock is within easy walking distance of Olympia’s shops and restaurants and the Olympia Farmers Market, and it’s a short walk or bike ride from Swantown Marina. Located in Olympia’s beautiful East Bay, Swantown has over 70 moorage slips for vessels up to 100 feet.
This is a great time of year to visit local marinas, with nearby shops and restaurants such as Anthony’s Hearthfire Grill near Swantown Marina. Thanks to the Molo Online Booking System, it’s now easier than ever to make your guest moorage reservations.
