Have you been dreaming about cruising to Northern B.C., Haida Gwaii, and Southeast Alaska? Perhaps you have been putting it off due to some unanswered questions or concerns. The six-hour Boat Show University Class, “Cruising Southeast Alaska” is designed to inspire and answer your most pressing questions and help you prepare. Participants have been surprised to learn that the majority of the trip is within the protected waters of the Inside Passage. You will learn where to find the weather for Rounding Cape Caution and Crossing Dixon Entrance, the two open areas to reach the next section of scenic inside passages and routes.
The class begins with an overview of one of the best cruising grounds in the world, including distances and time allotment. Maps outline routes to favorite destinations and lesser-known unique sites. You will learn about fascinating boardwalk villages and their marina amenities and anchorages along the way. A section about visiting Haida Gwaii and the historic native sites of Gwaii Haanas is included in the presentation. Marvel over British Columbia’s Fjordland and scenic waterfalls before moving on to Southeast Alaska from Prince Rupert.
We will visit favorite tidal glaciers like Le Conte Glacier, South Sawyer Glacier, Dawes Glacier, and Marjorie Glacier. Information about the permitting process for Glacier Bay National Park and bear viewing sites like Anan Bay Bear Wildlife Observatory and the Pack Creek Brown Bear viewing site will be covered. We will visit historic cannery sites, mining sites, and natural hot springs. Where to find Native history and Russian-America history.

Waggoner Guide Managing Editors Leonard and Lorena Landon who have made numerous trips to Southeast Alaska are pleased to share their tips and techniques, knowledge, and enthusiasm with you, including charts, communications, anchoring, insurance considerations, and clearing customs. Special community celebrations are included too! Come enjoy this informative and exciting trip to Southeast Alaska, and make your dreams a reality with practical preparations and learned knowledge.
