James Island Marine Park

Transient guest dock and pilings have been replaced and a new walkway and ramp have been added in 2018. The current that passes through remains the same.

Washington State Parks has installed the seasonal docks at James Island, Matia Island, and Jones Island. Docks will be removed once again in October.

Customs Check-in Friday Harbor

Boaters will find a new, larger Customs check-in station at Friday Harbor.

Deer Harbor

It has been reported that there is an uncharted derelict vessel submerged in 45 feet of water at N 48° 37´.136´´ and W 123° 00´.401´´ in Deer Harbor; anchors have been caught on this submerged derelict vessel.

Friday Harbor - San Juan Island

Jensen Boatyard and Marine has been purchased by the Port of Friday Harbor; same services offered: haulout (35-ton travel lift), maintenance, and permanent moorage with some transient space during summers (360-378-4343).

Brandt’s Landing Marina - Orcas Island

Brandt’s Landing Marina on the north end of Orcas Island offers limited transient moorage for boats up to 50 feet.


Rosario Resort mooring buoys remain first-come, first-served; for 2019 the mooring buoy fee is $35 per day and the anchoring landing fee is $25 per day for use of the Resort’s marina pool, shower and restrooms; spa facilities are extra. Day use up to 2 hours is free on a space available basis, at the discretion of the Harbormaster, while shopping and dining at the resort.

Doe Island Marine State Park

Doe Island Marine State Park

A 32-foot float was recently installed (2019) at Doe Island. Moorage rates are payable from 1 pm through 8 am; use the self-registration payment station located upland. Five campsites on the island and a hiking trail around the perimeter of this 7-acre park. Buoys next to the island are private.
