Lopez Island

The Galley Restaurant in Fisherman Bay is temporarily closed for a total remodel. Reopening is planned for January 2021. Dock space and 3 mooring balls will be available to boaters while dining at the Galley Restaurant. If anchoring out, come in by dinghy and tie below the ramp.

Westcott Bay

At minus tides, a field of old oyster farm buoys from a previous shellfish farm become evident and appear between Bell Point and the outer end of the present Westcott Bay Shellfish Co. pier. Some of these buoys may be just under the surface of the water.

James Island Marine Park

A larger guest dock and pilings replaced the old smaller facility and a new walkway and ramp were added. The strong current that passes through remains the same, use caution when approaching during both ebb and flood cycles. 

Deer Harbor

It has been reported that there is an uncharted derelict vessel submerged in 45 feet of water at N 48° 37´.136´´ and W 123° 00´.401´´ in Deer Harbor; anchors have been caught on this submerged derelict vessel.

Picnic Cove

Anchoring is no longer an option in Picnic Cove (located east of Indian Cove on the southeast side of Shaw Island) due to the charted cable area.

Blakely Island Marina

A” and “C” dock annotations in the 2020 Waggoner Guide are reversed. “A-Dock” is the west side of the first float as you enter and “C-Dock” is the eastern most float. 

Friday Harbor - San Juan Island

Jensen Boatyard and Marine has been purchased by the Port of Friday Harbor; same services offered: haulout (35-ton travel lift), maintenance, and permanent moorage with some transient space during summers (360-378-4343).

Brandt’s Landing Marina - Orcas Island

Brandt’s Landing Marina on the north end of Orcas Island offers limited transient moorage for boats up to 50 feet.

Turn Island

Normally there are 3 mooring buoys; no buoys found in 2020 


Rosario Resort mooring buoys remain first-come, first-served and there is an anchoring landing fee for use of the Resort’s marina pool, shower and restrooms; spa facilities are extra. Day use up to 2 hours is free on a space available basis, at the discretion of the Harbormaster, while shopping and dining at the resort.

Doe Island Marine State Park

Doe Island Marine State Park

A 32-foot float was recently installed (2019) at Doe Island. Moorage rates are payable from 1 pm through 8 am; use the self-registration payment station located upland. Five campsites on the island and a hiking trail around the perimeter of this 7-acre park. Buoys next to the island are private.

Customs Check-in Friday Harbor

Boaters will find a new, larger Customs check-in station at Friday Harbor.
