Vendovi Island is a 217-acre nature preserve that the San Juan Preservation Trust (SJPT) has owned and managed since 2010. Public access for boaters is open between April and September at the Island’s North Cove on a dock located behind a rock breakwater.
After decades of exposure to tides and storms, the breakwater is now in need of repair. The San Juan Preservation Trust has launched a campaign to raise $280,000 in private contributions over the next 14 months to help ensure continued public access. The total cost to repair the breakwater is estimated to be $660,000.

Visitors to the island love hiking the three miles of well-marked, interconnected trail and enjoy the peace and solitude of this small, beautiful island. The island is home to Purple Martins, Pigeon Guillemots – nearly 60 avian species are found on the island. As part of the restoration project, armoring will be removed from the shoreline to benefit salmon and other fish species.

Vendovi Island has been open to the public for nearly 15 years. Boaters can do their part by providing donations to ensure that the preserve remains accessible to the public. Requested donations begin at $25 and up. Please select your specified amount and make your donation HERE. Go to https://sjpt.org/ to learn more about the non-profit San Juan Preservation Trust.
