BC anglers can now use the same online licensing system as hunters to purchase their freshwater fishing licences. Anglers are encouraged to use the Wildlife Information and Licensing Data System (WILD) in preparation for the 2026-27 fishing season.
To buy a fishing licence in WILD, anglers must first register for a Fish and Wildlife ID (FWID) if they don’t already have one. People who prefer in-person service can register for their Fish and Wildlife ID at Service BC, FrontCounter BC, or at Participating Vendors.
When a Conservation Surcharge Stamp and Retentions Record is required, anglers must still carry a paper copy of their licence in order to record their catch details. Conservation officers will access and verify angler’s FWIDs and fishing licence details in the field using the mobile application.
Benefits Using WILD Fishing Licence System
- Streamlined registration and automatic identity
- Improved, more secure login options
- Reduced need to carry a printed licence, just an FWID unless Conservation Surcharge Stamp is required
- Single system to access fishing and hunting services, convenient for anglers who also hunt
- New option for angling guides to register and buy fishing licences for their non-resident clients
