Music composer Olivier Gavignaud has written a symphony to celebrate the Expedition of French Explorer, Laperouse fused with cinema screening of AI visuals that are stunningly realistic. This groundbreaking blend of technology, history, and orchestration has reached the international stage, bringing the 18th-century heritage to life.
In August 1785 under the orders of Louis XVI, Jean-Francois de Galaup Laperouse departed Brest, France on a Scientific Expedition with more than 200 crew members consisting of astronomers, naturalists, cartographers, and artists. The French Expedition made several North America stopovers in 1786, including Lituya Bay in Alaska and Monterey Bay in California, where his ships were among the first non-Spanish European visitors.

Local Northwest boater and friend, Marc Onetto, who is a member of the Association Laperouse Albi France (ALAF), supported the cinematic film project by submitting photos he had taken while visiting Lituya Bay with his vessel m/v Laperouse. You can read about the project called L’Odyssee des Lumieres, the Odyssey of Enlightenment, and watch a sampling of the visuals and orchestration at https://www.odysseedeslumieres-productions.com
The Association Laperouse Albi France is a French nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness and promoting the life, work, and universal values of Jean-Francois de Galaup, Count of Laperouse, born in Albi, France in 1741.
