Waggoner received an excellent response from our recent survey, asking for your preference for two-volumes vs. a one-volume edition of our tide and current guide, Ports and Passes for next year, 2026. Over 60% of respondents indicated they would like to have the tide and current guide divided into two volumes.
We heard you and are responding to your comments and suggestions. We are pleased to announce that the 2026 production of Ports and Passes will be in two volumes, with a reduced price for each volume. Volume 1 will cover Olympia to Cape Caution, with BC Inside Waters; and Volume 2 will cover Juan de Fuca, West Vancouver Island, Northern BC, Haida Gwaii, and Southeast Alaska. We have already begun work on these two volumes in order to have the books available by the end of 2025 and available in retail stores for the start of 2026.
Since Ports and Passes will be divided into two volumes, we have not made a decision at this time about alphabetizing the stations – by cruising area, or within the entire book(s). Again, thank you for your suggestions and support.
A number of survey respondents expected the price for each volume to be less than the current single volume. One of the most significant benefits of two volumes will be a 20% – 30% reduction in the price. We won’t have the final price established until we have the books printed, but we fully expect to have accomplished a major goal of keeping this valuable boaters’ publication affordable.
