The day-use floats at Irondale in Port Hadlock, south of Port Townsend, have been removed and will not be available until further notice. The future of the Port of Port Townsend-owned floats, boat ramp, pier, and related pilings remain under debate within the Port Commission.
One option being considered is to remove the entire facility to be replaced with a new boat launch ramp and adjacent floats for handling launched vessels. Interested residents and boaters are encouraged to contact Port Commission members with their input. The creosote pilings have deteriorated significantly and tidal sand surrounds the boat launch ramp.

The current pier extends 90 feet from the Lower Hadlock beach to the two 40-foot floats, which often serve as a dinghy dock for boats anchored out in the harbor. Visitors enjoy dining at Ajax Café located upland and touring the adjacent Northwest School of Wooden Boat Building.
The three-member commission has asked the Port Executive Director, Eron Berg, to seek funding from RCO (Recreation and Conservation Office) of Washington for grant assistance.
