The annual Coho Ho Ho Rally will be departing soon. The Rally is for sailors, though power vessels are welcome, to journey together down the coast from Seattle to San Francisco. About a dozen boats participate each year, departing in late August to arrive in San Francisco by mid-September.
With comfort in numbers, the rally provides offshore sailing and cruising experience supported by others in the group. The Coho Ho Ho provides educational seminars earlier in the year to help participants prepare for the journey, a huge benefit of participating in the Rally and becoming a member. The seminars are produced live and most are recorded so that participants can review them again as needed, or view them after signing up for the following year.
Rally participants will enjoy the social aspect of the trip too, with a PNW Sendoff Cruisers’ Party and the Fleet Welcome Party in San Francisco. The company of radio chatter and information from the fleet during the journey is all part of the social aspect, providing welcomed moral support from others. Many of the Coho Ho Ho Rally participants continue south to San Diego to join the Baja Ha Ha Rally to Cabo San Lucas, under the leadership of Chuck Skewes, the new “Poobah.”
