The Advanced Manufacturing Skills Center (AMSC) is an extension of Edmonds College. The Skills Center is located at 3008 100th St. SW in Everett, Washington and offers an introductory Manufacturing Core Certificate followed by several Specialty Certificate Programs of choice. There is no pre-testing to get into these programs.
Students start with the Manufacturing Core Certificate, a 4-week introduction to Manufacturing course (online only) that covers work roles, vessel systems, schematics, material use, tools, electrical, and fiberglass basics. New courses start approximately every 30 days, so you can find a program that works with your schedule.
After completing the Core Certificate, students can choose from five specialty areas under the Specialty Certificate Program:
- Electrical Assembly Mechanic Certificate
- Manufacturing Assembly Mechanic Certificate
- Manufacturing Composites Certificate
- Tooling Mechanic Certificate
- Quality Assurance (QA) Certificate
Students may take as many Specialty Certificates as they wish, but may only take one at a time.
The popular Fiberglass Lamination Certificate is an 8-week program with online theory and hands-on lab work focused on composite application and mold prep. Many of the skills learned in the course can also be applied to other manufacturing jobs or fields.
Registration for the Maritime Core Program includes the following concurrent classes completed during the 4 weeks:
- MFG 120 – Manufacturing Overview
- MFG 106 – Introduction to Maritime
- MFG 159 – Intro to Composites Materials
