BC Parks Foundation has launched a crowdfunding campaign to protect 100 acres at Prideaux Haven in Desolation Sound – one of the most treasured anchorages in the Pacific Northwest, and one of British Columbia’s most dramatic marine areas. This campaign gives the boating community a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to secure 100 acres of forest and nearly one kilometre of shoreline, forever.

BC Parks Foundation has secured an agreement to purchase this property in Prideaux Haven but there are competing interests. “This is one of those iconic places that people assume must already be protected,” says Andy Day, CEO of BC Parks Foundation, “but it’s not. Right next door, logging is happening and there is a competing offer for development of forestry on this property.”

Boaters can help make a difference and a lasting legacy by contributing to this campaign to protect 100 acres (40.5 hectares) in Desolation Sound. The 100-acre property borders Desolation Sound Marine Provincial Park and faces the East Redonda Island Ecological Reserve, meaning its protection will directly strengthen an existing network of conservation lands. The property is home to critical nesting habitat for the marbled murrelet and old-growth coastal trees.

Boaters return to Prideaux Haven year after year for its beauty and serenity. The mountain peaks, intimate coves, and local trails never cease to inspire the visitor. We want to keep it that way. The Wilson 5 Foundation has generously agreed to match every gift – leaving $1.25 million to raise by September 29th, 2025, which remains from the $2.5 million purchase price. Please share this campaign with your friends and fellow boaters and Donate Now! The BC Parks Foundation Crowdfunding Page can be reached HERE.
