Strait of Georgia

The 110-mile-long and 15-20-mile-wide Strait of Georgia separates Vancouver Island from mainland British Columbia. The retirement communities of French Creek, Deep Bay, and Comox dot the shoreline of Vancouver Island north of Nanaimo. Fairwinds Marina and the marinas at Comox are popular stops along this coastline. The islands of Lasquetti, Jedediah, Texada, Hornby, and Denman are found in the Strait of Georgia, with remote anchorages and villages. The WG (Whiskey Golf) restricted Naval operations area lies north of Nanaimo and westward towards Winchelsea Island. For important updates in this area, see the table below.
