Considering installing lithium batteries on your boat? Then you won’t want to miss the upcoming talk hosted by Mike Beemer about installations, standards, and options. This helpful course will eliminate the mysteries surrounding lithium batteries.

We have all seen the proliferation of lithium batteries in many devices, everything from electric toothbrushes and cell phones to electric bicycles. And yes, cars and boats too, but the installation of lithium batteries on a boat is much more complicated than other applications, and there are many things that must be taken into consideration for the marine environment.

Much has been learned over the past 10 years about using lithium batteries in the marine environment, and upgrading to this battery system now makes sense for many cruisers. New standards have been established by the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC), along with best practices and other important data.

A panel of industry experts put together by Michael Beemer will be covering these topics on Friday, November 17, from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Marine Technology Center in Anacortes, 1606 R Avenue. The $25 fee goes towards supporting Cruisers College courses, a department of Skagit Valley College. Be sure and go to www.cruiserscollege.org to register and reserve your space for this informative and helpful course.

Mike Beemer is the Department Chair for the College’s marine maintenance and repair program and has been teaching professionally for nearly 20 years.
