How many of us have been out cruising and encountered an electrical problem? Do you have the skills to track down the problem or have the tools and knowledge needed to make repairs? The more you can fix on your boat, the more likely you will be able to extend your time on the water.
Join others for the Electrical Basics Workshop on November 14 and 15, from 9 am to 4:30 pm at the Marine Technology Center in Anacortes, 1606 R Avenue. The workshop is a combination of lecture and hands-on practice in the Marine Technology Center’s Lab. Here are just some of the topics covered in this helpful, two-day workshop:
- Series and parallel circuits and drawing circuit diagrams
- Calculate wire size and properly route wiring and install chafe protection
- Apply recommended color coding
- Install DC electrical circuit components
- The use of specialized electrical tools
- Conducting essential electrical troubleshooting
- Identify and test different types of fuses
- Building battery cables and testing battery voltages
- Building and testing battery banks in parallel and series
The workshop will culminate with the design, building, and testing of a basic electrical system of your creating. Attendees of all skill levels are welcome to register for the workshop. Instructors Gio Cappelli and Julie Cappelli are there to answer all your questions.
