The public is invited to join a day of fun and education at the Samish Indian Nation’s Fidalgo Bay Resort on Saturday, September 26, from 11 am to 3 pm in Anacortes (4701 Fidalgo Bay Road).

Visitors can participate in a beach-seining demonstration and help conduct a forage fish survey. Come learn about the ecological importance of Fidalgo Bay and local estuaries. There will be hands-on crafts and games for the kids, prizes, and educational exhibits. And you won’t want to miss the no-host traditional Coast Salish salmon barbecue lunch, along with free samples of grilled oysters from Taylor Shellfish and chowder from Adrift Restaurant and the Island Café.

You will also be able to see live marine animals in the portable touch tanks provided from the Anacortes Shannon Point Marine Center. Information about local projects, programs, and volunteer opportunities are shared at this special half-day event.

Fidalgo Bay Day is hosted by the Salish Sea School in conjunction with the Skagit Marine Resources Committee. The event is made possible by volunteers and community partners, including HF Sinclair, the Port of Anacortes, Lautenbach Recycling, and Friends of the Salish Sea. The Salish Sea School in Anacortes is a nonprofit that connects people with hands-on marine science education, outdoor exploration, and conservation programs.
