Perhaps you have noticed dozens of boats anchored in Tribune Bay while cruising in late July or early August; this is the time that Hornby Island puts on their 10-day annual music festival known for its top-quality professional groups and individual artists. The festival is recognized as among the top five Canadian festivals with the likes of the Montreal Jazz Festival and the Winnipeg Folk Festival. The Hornby Festival hosts multi-genre programs with leading artists who provide outdoor evening performances at the Rosemuir Farm. The owners of the farm have continued to offer this beautiful island setting for the festival each year.

The 2022 Hornby Festival runs July 28 through August 6 at the Rosemuir Farm located at 9925 Central Road, with classical performances held at the Community Hall at 4305 Central Road. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Box Office located behind the Community Hall. Tickets may also be purchased at the gate as available, cash or credit card. To help you choose which performances are your preferred picks to attend, the festival offers free 20-minute spot performances to give you a taste of programs happening that evening at Rosemuir Farm. These 20-minute spot performances are held on the lawn at Joe King Ball Park located at 3851 Central Road. Tickets are non-refundable and all outdoor main stage concerts proceed rain or shine. In addition to the many music performances, the Hornby Festival hosts an Art Show every year at Island Community Hall, showcasing local and regional artists.

Festival grounds are well marked and attendees are asked to stay within the boundaries. Please no outside food and no pets except service dogs. For more information, go to or call 250-335-2734. There are no taxis on the island, but you can get around by bicycle or via the small community bus that runs seasonally during the summer months; see for a schedule. Boaters can anchor in Tribune Bay, or moor their boat at the Ford Cove Harbor Authority docks as space allows; make moorage payment at the marina office located upland from the docks.
