Desolation Sound is considered a don’t miss adventure for its fabulous scenery and warm water. Prideaux Haven, part of Desolation Marine Park, is an ideal anchorage and a great spot to explore by dinghy or kayak and take a swim; yes, the water is really that warm!

For those who are venturing north and would like to attend the seminar presentations, along with flotilla participants, you can sign up for the day-long class held at the Cruisers College Marine Technology Center in Anacortes, Washington (1606 R Avenue) scheduled for Saturday, April 30 beginning at 8:30 a.m. – registration fee for the class is $250/per couple or $150 for a single and includes copies of the presentation slides and notes. Non-flotilla participants can register for the class by going to the Cruisers College website and click on Eventbrite. The class will give you the knowledge and all the necessary tips to cruise Desolation Sound and beyond with ease and confidence.

The Desolation Sound flotilla is currently full; however, we invite you to register for the flotilla if you wish to be placed on the waiting list – go to www.waggonerguide.com/flotillas/ or call the Waggoner Office at 360-299-8500. The Desolation Sound Flotilla is being led by Sue Peterson, an experienced boater; who was featured on the cover of a recent edition of the Waggoner Guide. Departing Anacortes, you will be traveling through some of the most beautiful areas of British Columbia, with scenic anchorage stops like Prideaux Haven and Teakerne Arm Provincial Park, and enjoying stays at unique family-run marinas like Toba Wilderness Marina, just to name a few of the many planned exciting destinations. Cost for this round-trip Desolation Sound Flotilla is $2,300 and runs June 19 to July 3.

For years, Waggoner has successfully led flotillas to majestic Desolation Sound, the enchanting Broughton archipelago, and the inspiring Inside Passage to Southeast Alaska. Waggoner flotillas include a complimentary 2022 edition of the Waggoner Cruising Guide and a 2022 Ports & Passes tide and current Guide, along with class instruction to help prepare for the journey. Topics covered include boat maintenance, interpreting weather, crossing the border, anchoring, and transiting the rapids. All class participants are provided with a binder that includes presentation slides and notes.
