Flotilla to Southeast Alaska May 16- June 1/June 7
$2900 per boat to Ketchikan and $3400 to Juneau

We leave during the best weather in May on this one-way trip to SE Alaska, which allows you to explore Alaska for the summer. This year, we are offering an extended flotilla trip through the key SE Alaska towns of Wrangell and Petersburg, with other stops for the glaciers and some of the prettiest places in Southeast Alaska. The flotilla will end in Juneau which leaves many options to travel on your own to Skagway, Glacier Bay, or points west such as Sitka or Baranof Hot Springs. While traveling on the Inside Passage and in SE Alaska, we will give you the knowledge and assistance to plan your dream itinerary. Most of you will have fun meeting new friends in our group, who you will most likely see again and again as you travel in Alaska.

This year’s trip will be led by the Waggoner Editor and Publisher, Mark Bunzel, and by Margaret Pommert who is one of the most well-known sail and power instructors in the Northwest. The fee also provides a full library of cruising guides, references, and planning maps as well as the most recent 2022 Waggoner Cruising Guide and the 2022 Ports and Passes Tide and Current Guide. We also include a 2-day seminar in Anacortes on March 19-20 covering all of the planning and cruise information for a major trip like this.

This trip typically sells out at 10 boats maximum. Sign up now to reserve a spot. At the same time, Waggoner Media Group reserves the right to cancel any flotilla trip due to government regulations such as pandemic restrictions or limited response.

Boat anchored in cove surrounded by trees and granite cliffs in Desolation Sound

Desolation Sound Flotilla Trip June 19th to July 3rd
$2300 Round Trip – Anacortes to Anacortes

If you are ready to explore farther north but not quite ready nor have the time to go to Alaska, consider our flotilla to Desolation Sound. This trip travels through some of the most beautiful areas of British Columbia to the Desolation Sound area. You will experience and learn about passages through tidal rapids and anchoring and stern-tying in remote locations. The group learns about wildlife with days filled with sightings of bald eagles, dolphins and whales. You will visit some of the unique coastal towns, but most importantly, beautiful mountain rimmed anchorages. Like all of our flotillas, we focus on education and understanding the weather, preparing you for the day you begin to explore these areas on your own. This flotilla is led by Sue Peterson, experienced boater and advertising manager for Waggoner. You will enjoy meeting new friends on the Flotilla as we get together for group meals and at some of those unique restaurants in the area. The Waggoner Guide staff will set up all reservations and logistics for the trip, and assist with Border crossing and any unique pandemic related requirements if they arise.

Sandy beach in the Virgin Islands with boat anchored off shore

The Warm Flotilla in the British Virgin Islands – April 10-17
Various prices depending on charter boat

What does the Waggoner Guide crew do when it gets really cold? Yup! We head south and stay warm by boating in the Virgin Islands. In fact, you may not know that we also publish a cruising guide for the Virgin Islands. We know the islands well, and we are just starting to share the fun with flotilla cruises in the BVI.

We have over 40 years of experience cruising the Virgin Islands. We can work with you to find the right charter boat to meet your needs, be it sail or power, or any size to include all of your friends, all at special prices. We have put together a one-week itinerary that includes beautiful anchorages and world-famous beach bars such as Foxy’s and the Soggy Dollar Bar. We know the best places and the best ways to get there. Caribbean beach party – we got that. Hike through the world-famous baths with their big round boulders.

While our flotillas feature targeted education, the BVI also focuses on some fun activities. We tailor the trip to our group and their interests. Want world class snorkeling or scuba diving – we have that too. We are basically taking all of our experience in the islands to focus on FUN!!! Grab a group of friends and share the cost of a charter boat. The cost is often cheaper than a hotel-based vacation. We can take the uncertainty out with our experience in the British Virgin Islands, and we know how to deal with the varying Pandemic regulations.

Want to go to a rum tasting with “flights of different rums?” (choose from over 100 different rums and become an expert). Want to dance to the Caribbean beat under a full moon – we got the place for that too. Good Food, Great Drinks – all with good friends. We have 7+ days of cruising to the best places in the British Virgin Islands. Want to dine outdoors on fresh lobster barbequed over a charcoal fire? – we got that too, and not far from a grove of hundreds of pink flamingos.

If at this point of the new year you are already dreaming about diving into warm clear blue water, sign up or give us a call to learn more about a trip of a lifetime with others from the Pacific Northwest. You hardly need to pack anything. How long will it take you to pack a couple of T-shirts, shorts, and sandals? We can take care of everything else so you can focus rolling off the back of the boat into the cool, clear, Caribbean water.  Want to learn more – give us a call. By April, you will be ready for a Waggoner Caribbean Charter Flotilla break! We are chartering entire boats or cabins. Virgin Island flotillas are led by Dave Ryan and Mark Bunzel, co-authors of Cruising the Virgin Islands guidebook.
