Source for Tollycraft Parts
January 28, 2002

Parts for production boats can be an ongoing challenge, especially if the boat manufacturer no longer is in business. Chris Newlove sent this inquiry:

I own a 1974 Tolly 26 with the old style windows. In a response to another reader's question you mentioned, "If you do get a boat with the old style windows, new-style windows can be ordered and installed." Do you know of a good source for the newer style windows? Any advice you can offer is greatly appreciated.

Chris Newlove
Renton, Wash.

Response

The windows come from a shop in Portland, Oregon, and I forget the name. Western something, or a name like that. For the same price, though, you can get them through Gordon Graham, who does business as Resources International, in Port Orchard, Wash. Gordon was the purchasing manager at Tollycraft for years and years and years. When they closed he got all the supplier records. He's the source for Tollycraft parts. He not only has access to the parts, he knows the history of which parts went on which boats during which years, which ones worked well and which ones didn't -- and why.

Get your checkbook ready. Windows are expensive. They sure dress the boat up, though. Our Tolly 37 has new windows (well, five years old, now). They look great and they don't leak. Terry Murphy, a friend in Vancouver, B.C., put all-new windows in his early-70s Tolly 40 tri-cabin and they made the boat look almost new.
