Jet Skis (Personal Watercraft) Not Permitted in San Juan Islands
April 27, 2009

Bob

We recently found out (the hard way) that Seadoos are not allowed on San Juan Island. Imagine our shock after travelling from Roche to Friday Harbour and being told by the Coast Guard that they were not allowed. We use our Seadoo as a tender so it was quite surprising. First I'd heard of it. I went back and read the 2009 Waggoner (aka the bible) to see if I'd missed that information but I couldn't find a mention. Perhaps you could include that next time?

Pam Anderson

Comment

Pam Anderson is right. Jet skis were banned in the San Juans several years ago, after complaints about hot-dogging, harassing the whales, and the like. Next year’s Waggoner will include this information.
