Port McNeill Fuel Dock & Marina, a fixture on northern Vancouver Island, has been renamed North Island Marina. The name change should make it easier for boaters to distinguish the private North Island Marina from the public Port McNeill docks.

North Island Marina sent us this press release:

Over the last 28 years, the Port McNeill Fuel Dock has evolved from a simple fuel stop into a full service marina. Today, it is the northern headquarters for many yachts cruising the Broughton Islands and transiting to and from the Northern B.C. coast and Alaska. “We are now much more than just a fuel dock. We offer 2100 feet of transient side-tie dock moorage for boats from 28’ to 285’, in-berth refueling and full concierge services for our yacht customers,” said General Manager Steve Jackman. To better reflect the increased services, the business has a new look and a new name, North Island Marina.

“We found many of our customers want more than just moorage. If they are headed to Northern B.C. or Southeast Alaska, we can help with provisioning, making dinner reservations in Port McNeill, or arranging side trips to local attractions including helicopter tours, fishing charters, whale watching or golf at our local 18 hole course, Seven Hills Golf and Country Club,” Steve added. Many customers leave their boats for a week or more during the summer season while attending to business or family back home. North Island Marina offers convenient float plane service from the their dock to and from Vancouver and Seattle, or airline service from the Port Hardy Airport, just a few miles away by courtesy shuttle van. Owners and guests can be back and forth between their boat moored at North Island Marina and major population centers in a few hours.

North Island Marina can also assist with minor repairs and can arrange for a mechanic for more specialized maintenance and repair services. Parts can be easily air-shipped to the North Island Marina if needed. New in 2013, the marina added a coffee and espresso bar on the dock called “Exhalatte,” featuring coffee and soft drinks, bakery items and sandwiches. Yachting groups can enjoy the hospitality tent on the dock, which is also a convenient place for impromptu afternoon happy hours.

Steve Jackman said, “We are looking forward to welcoming our late season and next season guests and friends under our new name and image along with new services.”

Reservations for moorage at North Island Marina can be made by email at info@portmcneill.com or phone at 855-767-8622.
