Do you know about the Canadian Safe Boating Awards (CASBAs)?

Each year the Canadian Safe Boating Council recognizes the efforts of the general public, volunteers, professionals, agencies and organizations who have distinguished themselves in the fields of boating safety and environmental stewardship. Winners are selected in a number of categories. What makes the CASBAs so very special is that these winners are chosen based on nominations provided by the general public.

CASBAs are given in a number of different categories,

"Stearns Award for Rescue of the Year" A heroic deed or rescue executed on the water in Canada

"Marine Professional of the Year" An outstanding act of boating safety by a marine organization professional

"Top Volunteer Dedicated to Safe Boating" An individual who consistently practices and promotes safe boating in Canada

"Ontario Power Generation Award for Best Boating Safety Initiative" A successful safe boating initiative that was conducted in Canada

"Safeguarding the Environment" A company who has introduced to Canada a boating product or campaign that reduces marine pollution and makes the sport of boating more environmentally friendly

"Marine Industry" A company or individual who has introduced a boating product or technology improving boating safety

"Visible PFD Wear in Advertising" An advertiser that consistently or innovatively promotes visible PFD wear

"Best Media Contribution to Boating Safety" A media outlet that promotes boating safety in some fashion

"Special Recognition" Awarded at the discretion of the CASBA Nominations Review Committee for special recognition

The CASBA awards ceremony for the 2014 boating season will be held in Toronto on January 11, 2015.

The Canadian Safe Boating Council depends on the general public to make nominations, so all boaters are being asked to be on the lookout for deserving nominees.
